When italian people have breakfast outside at the "bar", always ask for "Cappuccino e Briosch". This you can find also in Bayern is some Italian Cafeteria, even if it is for us extremely expensive. Completely different and probably largely unknown is when an Italian has breakfast at home. Here we usually drink quite quickly just a coffee with milk and eat some biscuits or cookies, sometimes a croissant or, on the weekend, when they have a little bit more time, a slice of bread with marmalade or chocolate cream.
Now this is the problem. In small towns in Germany, you cannot find any kind of right breakfast biscuits, they are always too fat with too much cream inside, or too dry and small. The only possibilities are buying some downtown in special stores or ordering them via internet, but they are again always really expensive. So another chance is to try the german breakfast ("Fruehstueck"), which is like a brunch and mostly consists in a "Latte Macchiato" with different types of bread, butter, ham, cheese, salami, tomatoes and other vegetables, jam, and fruit. We find it also really good and often choose it when we go downtown in the week-end mornings!!

Happy hour 1
Coming from Milan, I was used to go every week out for drinking something during the "Happy hour" ("Aperitivo"), which is very typical, not only among young people and students, but also for 30-years old people after work (usually between 18.30 and 20.30). In Milan, it consists usually in drinking different types of cocktails paying half price and eating something for free (for instance appetizers, little sandwiches or pizzas, small portions of pasta or salad, vegetables, etc.), while listening nice modern music. Of course, this doesn't exist in Bayern. The only way is to find a nice place for Aperitifs and get an Aperol Spritz, here considered very italian (in real, only typical from east Italy, but not from Milan). If you are lucky and you find a kind of "italian place", you can also order something to eat like some olives and chips. It is at the end quite expensive and not so satisfying, but you can try to imagine to be in a real italian bar....

Pasta 1
How to cook a very easy and typical Italian dish: pasta with tomato sauce.
In general the secret to cook real Italian food is to have the right ingredients and not use too many of them.
The first important point is a true Italian oil (OLIO DI OLIVA EXTRAVERGINE). To buy it out of Italy can be really expensive, but one really need it to cook almost everything and will be make the real difference. Another key ingredient is "grana padano" that we need very often to realize quick dishes and must be properly choose (old at least 24 months).
Also the other ingredients have to be selected carefully among those coming from Italy (always read the origin). For instance, it was not easy for me to find a right tomato sauce in Germany. Most of the local and also the italian ones that you can find here are too sweet. Finally, trying several different types, I found a proper one.
Today we need first to prepare the sauce sauteing a little bit of small slices of onions in the right oil. Then we have to add the right tomato sauce and some salt. The sauce must be cooked very slowly for about 10 minutes, mixing it quite often. In the meantime put the favorite pasta in boiling salted water and cook for the proper time. When it is ready, add the sauce and the grated "grana padano". If you want, you can add some basilic, but NOTHING else! The entire process take 15 minutes. Buon appetito.

Coffee 1
Considering that in Germany a true espresso doesn't exist, one have to keep in mind some easy rules to have a coffee:
1) never drink a regular coffee or an "espresso" at the Bakery. It is usually terrible. If you have no other better possibility, then have a cappuccino, it is often a better choice.
2) the only right moment for a regular coffee is the morning. Considering that it contains a lot of caffein, never drink it in the afternoon or in the evening.
3) never have a regular coffee or a cappuccino after meals! In this cases always choose an espresso.
4) take into account that a regular coffee strongly stimulates pissing....
5) in case of high temperature (extremely rare, but possible) choose an ice caffe!
